Holiday Overindulging

The most wonderful time of the year is officially upon us — a time when we tend to eat and drink in excess. And while there’s nothing wrong with yielding to temptation on occasion, overdoing it too often can lead to heartburn and other digestive issues. Here are some tips on how to make the most of the festivities without paying the price later.

Eat more often, but smaller portions

Grazing on healthy snacks instead of sitting down to two heavy meals is easier on the digestion and lets your stomach do its job. By eating less and more frequently, you will be helping your body stay active.

Drink lots of water

Give your digestive tract a boost by drinking water regularly throughout the day. If you are sufficiently hydrated before mealtime, your appetite will be controlled by your hunger and not your thirst.

Work more green vegetables into your diet

Green vegetables are packed with magnesium, iron and chlorophyll, which help keep your liver and digestive system working properly and prevent constipation. Make VIBE by Actumus your trusted ally all season long to alleviate bowel inflammation and heartburn.

Get moving

Set aside a little time during the day to exercise. It can be as simple as a 20-minute walk. As reported in a previous blog article, physical activity improves blood flow in the digestive system and the rest of the body, which will help with overall digestive function. Enjoy your favourite winter sport or head out for a long walk with your family. Or maybe plan an outdoor game for you and your guests to get everyone up and moving!

Happy Holidays!
