Following our great success with our fundraiser campaign in fall of 2021, an urban hive has been installed on the rooftop of three schools in the Montreal region in partnership with ALVEOLE. Our commitment remains unchanged this year and we are launching a fundraiser campaign again in September 2022 to donate 1$ for each ACTUMUS product sold to ALVEOLE.

This will allow us to make sure the urban hives are well serviced and support their growth. It also provides schools with educational workshops on various aspects of the wonderful world of bees and beekeeping.

ALVEOLE has a tremendous impact on different levels:

  1. Urban beekeeping is a great way to educate city dwellers to the crucial role of bees in food production
  2. Population of bees, butterflies, bumblebees and other pollinators are in rapid decline all over the world
  3. Bees pollinate more than 130 varieties of fruits and vegetables around the globe, that’s a third of our food supply

We hope that our initiative will help ALVEOLE to install 2 to 3 beehives in time for the winter rest and make sure our pollinating friends will be at work as soon as the first days of Spring and then ensure the sustainability of the urban flora around the school. A part of the honey harvested at the end of the season will even be available to our customers, stay tuned!

Don’t worry for the stings with the kids. Bees are note interested in human beings. They have one goal, and one goal only: to collect nectar and pollen from flowers within a 5 kilometers radius of their hive to ensure the colony’s development and survival. Unless their hive is in great danger, the risk is minimum on a school rooftop, they don’t want to lose their stinger and a part of their abdomen!

Join us this month and participate in an effort for a better planet and healthier human beings.

Happy back-to-school to all!
